Pankaj Nath, Assam: A District-Level Panch Sanmelan to sensitise Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives on the provisions and implementation of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-GRAM-G) was held on Thursday at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, Amingaon, Kamrup in Assam . The programme was attended by the District Commissioner, Kamrup, Deba Kumar Mishra, along with officials and Panchayati Raj Institution representatives from across the district. The District Commissioner provided an overview of the objectives and vision of the VB-GRAM-G initiative, highlighting its role in strengthening rural livelihoods and accelerating inclusive development.
He encouraged Panchayat representatives to undertake development initiatives, ensure the protection and maintenance of community assets, uphold transparency in implementation, prepare comprehensive action plans, constitute effective monitoring and review committees, and ensure the timely execution of approved works for the benefit of rural communities. The Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Kamrup Zila Parishad, Dhanjit Dutta, elaborated on the key provisions of the Act. He informed the participants that the scheme permits 318 categories of permissible development works and guarantees 125 days of unskilled manual employment to eligible rural households. He further stated that the scheme will be implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with a 90:10 Centre–State funding pattern for the North Eastern and Hill States. He also highlighted the importance of digital monitoring and technology-enabled implementation to ensure transparency, accountability and efficient execution of projects. An interactive session followed, during which Panchayat representatives raised queries and discussed various aspects related to the scheme at the grassroots level. The programme was attended by President of Kamrup Zila Parishad Nipon Bhuyan, Chief Executive Officer of Kamrup Zila Parishad Siddhartha Goswami, Block Development Officers, Kamrup Zila Parishad Members and Anchalik Panchayat Members from across the district.
