Pankaj Nath, Assam: An awareness programme on human trafficking was organised by the Sankalp District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Kamrup, Assam under the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Kamrup, at Rangia Krishak Swahid Bhawan to create awareness on the prevention of human trafficking and promote the safety and empowerment of women and children.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the growing concern of human trafficking and sensitised participants on related social issues such as witch hunting and child marriage. They emphasised the importance of education, awareness and community participation in preventing such practices. The programme also encouraged adolescent girls to become Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) by pursuing education, skill development and economic empowerment. The programme was attended by Co-District Commissioner (CDC), Rangia, Nabajit Pathak; noted social worker Sujata Mishra; District Social Welfare Officer, Kamrup; resource person Ms. Anima Thakuria, former teacher and member of Sadou Axom Lekhika Parishad; Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Kamalpur-Rangia; along with Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, adolescent girls and local public.
