
Dehradun: Dr. Anubha Pundir Chauhan, Associate Professor at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, has been appointed as the Vice President – Women’s Wing, India of the World Buddhist Federation. She is also regarded as the first-ever appointee to this responsibility from the World Peace Institute–United Nations.
A multi-award-winning Jholapreneur, Dr. Chauhan is widely recognized as the “Bhartiya Jhola Woman” for leading a unique environmental movement promoting cloth bags as a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic. Her work has championed Indian handloom, indigenous art, cultural heritage, and environmental conservation.
A trained classical performer and cultural ambassador, she has actively participated in numerous national and international cultural programmes, using art and India’s rich traditions to inspire environmental awareness and social responsibility.
In her new role, Dr. Chauhan will lead initiatives for women’s empowerment, peace, compassion, cultural harmony, and humanitarian service while representing the World Buddhist Federation across India and at international forums.
