Bangkok, Thailand: A distinguished cultural and spiritual programme celebrating the shared cultural and civilisational heritage of India and Thailand was held in Bangkok. The event brought together members of the Indian diaspora, community leaders, scholars, cultural representatives, and well-wishers from both nations.
The programme served as an important platform to reaffirm the historic and enduring friendship between India and Thailand, a relationship rooted in centuries of cultural exchanges, spiritual traditions, shared values, and strong people-to-people connections.
A special highlight of the occasion was the gracious presence of His Excellency Shri Puneet Agrawal, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand, and Mrs. Agrawal. Their presence reflected the importance accorded to community engagement, cultural diplomacy, and the deep emotional and historical bonds between India and Thailand.
Addressing the gathering, His Excellency Shri Puneet Agrawal emphasised that people-to-people interactions, the active participation of the Indian diaspora, and cultural exchanges remain key pillars of India–Thailand relations. He highlighted the significant role of communities, youth, scholars, and cultural institutions in preserving shared heritage and strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
The programme celebrated the timeless connection between India’s Ramayana and Thailand’s Ramakien, two great cultural traditions that transcend geographical boundaries and continue to unite the people of both nations. These epics convey universal messages of truth, righteousness, duty, ethical leadership, compassion, and social harmony. Their profound influence on literature, performing arts, dance, theatre, architecture, festivals, and social traditions was also highlighted.
The gathering received inspiring spiritual guidance from H.G. Nityanand Charan Das, who elaborated on the relevance of the eternal teachings of the Ramayana in contemporary life. He spoke about the importance of spiritual awareness, self-discipline, compassion, gratitude, and a value-based lifestyle in achieving inner peace, emotional balance, mental well-being, and holistic harmony.
The programme was conceptualised and coordinated by Shri Rahul Laxman Patil (Researcher and Youth Engagement Facilitator), whose efforts focus on strengthening India–Thailand cultural and civilisational connections through Track-II dialogue, youth participation, and community-based initiatives. His work aims to create meaningful platforms for cultural exchange, shared learning, and deeper people-to-people engagement between the two nations.
The programme was supported through the joint efforts of Mr. Avanish Kabra and Shri Rahul Laxman Patil, with a shared vision of promoting cultural diplomacy and strengthening the bonds of friendship between India and Thailand.
The event highlighted the growing importance of cultural diplomacy in enhancing bilateral relations. Through active engagement with the Indian diaspora and local communities, India and Thailand continue to deepen their partnership based on friendship, trust, mutual respect, and shared heritage.
The programme was aligned with the broader vision of India’s “Act East Policy”, recognising that civilisational connections and people-centric engagements provide a strong foundation for expanding economic, educational, strategic, and cultural cooperation.
The event concluded with a collective commitment to preserve and promote the rich cultural traditions that connect India and Thailand, while encouraging future generations to actively participate in cultural exchanges and further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
