The Republic of Balochistan has issued a strongly worded statement expressing support for Afghanistan amid rising tensions with Pakistan, while endorsing calls to dismantle the Durand Line and challenging Islamabad’s control over disputed territories.
The statement welcomed protest slogans in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) declaring that “Kashmir is not a part of Pakistan,” describing the demonstrations as a “positive and decisive moment.” It further claimed that Kashmir’s future would be more secure within India, citing India’s democratic system and economic strength.
Balochistan also praised remarks by some Afghan leaders following Pakistan’s recent airstrikes, including calls for Afghanistan to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Pashtunistan. It backed campaigns urging Kabul to expel Pakistan’s ambassador and recognise a Baloch diplomatic mission, calling such a move the beginning of formal relations between Afghanistan and Balochistan.
The statement asserted that Peshawar is historically Afghan territory and called for a joint Afghan-Baloch campaign to abolish the Durand Line, describing it as an artificial border. It pledged solidarity with the Pashtun people and argued that ending Pakistan’s control over the region would bring lasting stability to Afghanistan and help end what it described as Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan.
Highlighting Balochistan’s strategic importance, the statement said the region could serve as a major trade corridor, pointing to the Port of Gwadar as a key asset.
