London/Quetta: Baloch activists have claimed that an economic blockade allegedly imposed by forces they describe as representing an independent Balochistan is placing severe strain on Pakistan’s economy, disrupting supply chains and increasing pressure on key industries.
According to the statement, Pakistan’s industrial sector has long depended on the natural resources and strategic geography of Balochistan and Pashtunistan. The activists alleged that any prolonged disruption in access to these resources could lead to industrial slowdowns, declining exports, rising unemployment, capital flight and worsening fiscal instability.
The statement further urged Pakistan’s leadership to withdraw its security forces from Balochistan, arguing that no state can sustainably govern a region whose population rejects its authority. It also claimed that Pakistan could face a severe economic crisis if the situation continues.
