International Desk: Baloch activist Mir Yar Baloch has claimed that the self-proclaimed Republic of Balochistan may soon launch a nationwide civil disobedience movement against Pakistan, describing Islamabad as an “occupying force” and calling for international support for the Baloch cause.

In a post on X dated May 29, Mir Yar Baloch said the movement would seek to formally designate Pakistan as a “terrorist state” and its military establishment as a “Global Proxy Force,” alleging involvement in violence, repression and regional destabilisation.

According to the statement, all assets and interests linked to Pakistan’s military within what he described as the territory of the Republic of Balochistan would be identified, frozen and brought under national authority. The post also called on Baloch people to refuse tax payments to the Pakistani state, boycott Pakistan-made products and strengthen economic links with countries and partners viewed as supportive of Baloch aspirations.

Mir Yar Baloch asserted that Balochistan had already declared independence and described the proposed campaign as a historic effort to end what he called the exploitation of Baloch land and natural resources. He said the movement aimed to protect Baloch identity, sovereignty and national dignity.

Drawing parallels with historical independence movements, the post referenced Mahatma Gandhi’s civil disobedience campaigns during India’s freedom struggle and cited figures such as Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Nelson Mandela, George Washington, Simón Bolívar and Ho Chi Minh as examples of leaders associated with resistance and self-determination movements.

The statement further argued that while peaceful civil resistance remains a powerful tool, people under occupation have a right to defend their homeland, resources and civilian population through political, diplomatic and other forms of resistance.

The claims and proposals outlined in the post represent the views of the author and have not been independently verified. Pakistan maintains that Balochistan is an integral part of the country and has consistently rejected separatist demands in the province.
