International Desk: Baloch activist Mir Yar Baloch has claimed that the self-declared Republic of Balochistan is preparing to launch a nationwide civil disobedience movement against Pakistan, calling on people to reject what he described as Islamabad’s “occupational” authority in the region.
In a post on X, Mir Yar Baloch said the movement would seek to formally label Pakistan a “terrorist state” and its military establishment a “global proxy force.” He also claimed that assets and interests linked to the Pakistani military in Balochistan would be identified and brought under national authority.
The activist urged Baloch residents to refuse tax payments to Pakistani authorities, boycott Pakistan-made products and strengthen economic links with countries that support what he described as Balochistan’s sovereignty and national identity.
The statement further asserted that the Republic of Balochistan had already declared independence and framed the proposed campaign as a struggle for self-determination, preservation of Baloch identity and control over natural resources.
Drawing parallels with historical resistance movements, the post referenced the Indian independence movement led by Mahatma Gandhi as well as leaders including Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Nelson Mandela and George Washington.
Pakistan has consistently rejected separatist claims in Balochistan and maintains that the province is an integral part of the country. The latest remarks are likely to add to ongoing tensions surrounding the long-running insurgency and demands for greater autonomy in the resource-rich region.
