Bangkok: The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, under the Embassy of India in Bangkok, marked “ICCR Day” celebrating the 77th Foundation Day of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations at its premises in the Thai capital.
Delivering the opening remarks, Paulomi Tripathi, Charge d’Affaires, highlighted the pivotal role of ICCR in advancing cultural diplomacy and fostering international friendships through education, arts and cultural exchanges.
The event’s chief guest, Cholvit Jerajit, reflected on his association with ICCR and underscored the deepening academic and cultural ties between India and Thailand.
ICCR alumni speakers, including Pakpong from Thailand’s National Health Security Office and Worapan, shared their experiences of studying in India under the ICCR Scholarship Programme, expressing gratitude for the opportunities and enduring connections fostered through the initiative.
Cultural performances added vibrancy to the celebrations, with Ekkalak Nu-Ngoen presenting a solo Bharatanatyam recital. A fusion showcase featuring Ingkarat Sivamatheewith, Agrindra Rajendra, Yanisa Ounjitpan and Poramin Sakh blended Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Thai classical and folk dance traditions.
The celebration drew around 110 participants, including distinguished guests, ICCR alumni, members of the Indian diaspora, and officials from the Indian Embassy, reflecting the growing cultural engagement between India and Thailand.
