Chandigarh: Punjab Police has directed all Public Grievance Division (PGD) nodal officers to ensure timely redressal of complaints and process all grievances exclusively through the PGD portal, as Special DGP A.S. Rai chaired a virtual review meeting on Friday.
Reviewing the status of complaints submitted through the Punjab Police grievance portal, Rai issued strict instructions for personal monitoring of complaint disposal, improved quality of enquiry reports and adherence to stipulated timelines, warning of accountability for unnecessary delays.
The Special DGP also announced dedicated complaint handling desks at police station level to ensure prompt uploading and resolution of grievances, while stressing transparency, accountability and people-centric policing.
The move follows directions from DGP Gaurav Yadav and aligns with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s push to strengthen transparent and efficient grievance redressal. Physical visits to field units are also planned to help resolve public complaints on the spot.
