Praises Tirupati temple management, calls blend of tradition and technology ‘exemplary’

Tirupati/New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has described the Women’s Reservation Bill as a historic and far-reaching reform that will significantly strengthen women’s empowerment and ensure their greater participation in governance.

Speaking during her visit to Tirupati, Gupta said the legislation represents a decisive move towards inclusive governance and will open new avenues for women in decision-making roles. “The nation is looking at the Bill with hope and expectation. It will ensure meaningful participation of women in the mainstream of decision-making,” she noted.

The Chief Minister also credited the leadership of Narendra Modi for giving renewed momentum to women’s empowerment in the country. She highlighted that several initiatives centred on ‘Nari Shakti’ have been introduced to promote self-reliance and leadership among women, with the Bill reflecting a forward-looking vision for India’s democratic framework.

During her visit, Gupta offered prayers at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, describing it as a timeless centre of faith and devotion. She said the spiritual atmosphere of the shrine instils a deep sense of peace and fulfilment among devotees.

She also visited the Integrated Command and Control Centre of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, praising its efficient use of modern technology to manage pilgrim services and ensure safety. “The seamless blend of tradition and technology here is exemplary and can serve as a model for religious institutions across the country,” Gupta said.

Commending the administration of the Tirupati Balaji Temple, she noted that managing darshan for up to one lakh devotees daily without inconvenience reflects high standards of planning, cleanliness and crowd management.

Emphasising India’s cultural ethos, Gupta said women have always held a position of respect in society, and it is essential that this respect be reflected in equal representation within democratic institutions. She expressed confidence that the coming years will be defined by women’s leadership and progress, with the Women’s Reservation Bill marking a significant milestone in that journey.
